We are 100% committed to making sure your sponsored children are content, happy and healthy.
In October all of our homes received a site visit. During the visits, Robin’s Nest team members Jan Suffolk, Veronica Clayton and Robin Byrnes bought much needed beds and tooth brushes so the children don’t share. We gave lessons on how to brush teeth properly. Each child now has their own bed, which will help prevent the spread of sickness when they’re ill. They now also have their own pillow, bed sheets, towel, face cloth, soap, comb, a few new sets of clothing. They also have a storage place for their clothing and books to read.
Letters were written to sponsors and children of Belmont Christian College. We spoke to the RNCH committees and gave T-shirts and presents to each child from their sponsors. For those sponsors unable to get a gift to Robin before she left for the visit, your child was given a gift donated by Veronica and Robin.
Music lessons were given to the robins using recorders donated by Belmont Christian College. We compiled their progress reports by conferencing with teachers and house parents, and reviewed their school work, books and school facilities. We worked through the last year’s finances and compiled receipts. Medical checkups were given and medication when needed; eyes tested and glasses were fitted for some of the children.
We spent time setting up computers for better communication, discussed parental responsibilities and looked at tutoring for some children all in the hopes of giving their unjustly stolen lives back to them through a gift of love, care and a solid base for a future.
Even though it seems that we only checked and improved on the children’s basic needs, this was a huge task, time consuming and emotionally draining to actually go to a third world country and purchase these items to suit each child’s specific needs and desires.
A statement by Mother Teresa influences our passion and motivates us to press on: “At the moment of death, we will not be judged by the amount of work we have done but by the weight of love we have put into our works.” - Robin Byrnes
