Manish Singh
b.12/10/99, Agra.
Manish is yet another victim of poverty. His father left two years ago and has since died. His mother Laxmi works very hard as a labourer on a farm and collecting wood from the forest for cooking, but she could barely feed him. Before moving into Robin’s Nest, he used to wander around on his own all day while his mum was out working because there was no one else to care for him.
There was much concern for his welfare, so he was placed in Robin’s Nest in hope of a better future for him. He used to eat only roti and daal, and occasionally chatni (a homemade sauce). Manish now has a balanced diet in Robin’s Nest, plus a bed to sleep on and an education, which he previously never had. He loves cricket and electronic toys. His favourite colour is blue. His health is generally good and school performance is fair.
“If you saw how fervently he prays in church and how he sings from the deepest
depths of his heart! I have never seen such love of God so deeply expressed
in a child.” - Robin Byrnes
