Sangeeta Kumar
29/10/92, Agra.

Sangeeta's Signature

13-year-old Sangeeta is Annu’s sister. They were both born in Agra into extreme poverty. Her dad and mum both died of TB, a preventable disease. She was looking after her mum as she suffered with TB and trying to make money for the family by working very hard at scrubbing pots and people’s houses, which brought in around AUD$9 per month. Although we try to take in younger children to start, she had no place to go. She loves her brother Annu and can often be seen giving him a hug or sitting him on her lap. She is a very caring girl who is a wonderful help around the home and always helping the other children. She recently started her education in first grade, having never previously had the opportunity due to family responsibilities. Her native language is Hindi and she’s also learning English. She likes singing and dancing. Her favourite food is chicken and he favourite colour is blue.
