Vinod Kumar
b. 1994, Jhansi

Vinod was orphaned when his mother and father died in a road accident. He was left in the care of his uncle, living below the poverty line, with no toys and poor quality of life. When his uncle heard about RNCH taking orphaned children, he travelled to Jhansi to explain their circumstances and ask if we would help Vinod.

A site visit by our field staff revealed the only possessions he had were a tiny old handmade broom, a small pot to carry water, a cup, a handmade sieve with a small wooden frame and a rolling pin. His mud house was like a tunnel. He was delighted when we welcomed Vinod into RNCH.

Vinod is a sweet boy who enjoys football and cricket. At school his favourite subject is math and he hopes to become an engineer.
