Haggai Simiyu
b.1995, Webuye.
After Haggai’s mum died of HIV and his dad died in a car accident, he was left with an abusive uncle, staying in a mud house and sleeping on torn garments, using them as a blanket. He had never worn shoes.
He initially found refuge from this environment when a family from the Deliverance Church opened their home to him. He now calls Robin’s Nest ‘home’.
Due to his start in life, he is quiet and slow in speech and learning. He needs academic assistance since his education prior to Robin’s Nest was inconsistent - he was always left to take care of the animals. He was proud to receive a B on his report card during his first year at school.
He makes friends easily because he has an infectiously beaming smile all the time. He loves moulding things, bicycle riding and football. He also loves praying and singing and is a member of the Praise Team at Jackson Ongeri’s Deliverance Church. He also loves dancing, drawing and listening to bible stories. He helps around the children’s home with little household chores and his health is reportedly OK.
