Our Purpose Top ^
Robin’s Nest Childrens Homes provide hope and a home with loving Christian parents for orphaned, abandoned, maltreated, poverty and HIV/Aids affected children in Kenya and India.
Sponsor and donor funds provide needs that we believe all children should have access to: a safe and caring home, a filled belly, clothing, education and medical care. Each child is also taught good morals and values, as well as to develop employment skills. They are encouraged to attend higher education to break the poverty cycle in their life and make a positive impact in their community. They remain with their Robin’s Nest home until they are empowered to care for themselves.
We hope that our children will someday be able to give back to society in a similar way to that given to them by sponsors and partners. We also hope that they may be inspired by your support to help build God’s kingdom and believe that we are bequeathing them the gift of eternal life.
What is child sponsorship? Top ^
A RNCH Child Sponsorship is a regular, ongoing commitment to provide for the needs of a child who would otherwise not have those needs met due to poverty, abandonment or being orphaned. Loyal sponsorships move the world’s most disadvantaged children onto a path that gives them hope and lights their way to the future.

Extract from UNICEF Report State of the World’s Children 2005
“Here’s a glimpse of the shocking gap that separates us from them.
• 640 million children do not have adequate shelter.
• 500 million children have no access to sanitation.
• 400 million children do not have access to safe water.
• 300 million children lack access to information.
• 270 million children have no access to health care services.
• 140 million people have never been to school.
• 90 million children are severely food deprived.”
Your involvement with us will help to change these statistics. The needs are huge and the opportunities endless. Alone, it’s a drop in the ocean, but together, we can make a difference.
Social & economic issues facing Kenya and India Top ^
Kenya, like most of Africa, is being ravished by drought, meaning millions are facing malnourishment or starvation. Thousands of children have already been orphaned by HIV/Aids and that number grows daily. More than three million children under 15 years are suffering with it themselves.
India’s biggest enemies are disease and poverty. Most of the diseases are preventable. Worldwide, almost 11 million children each year (30,000 daily) die before their fifth birthday from preventable diseases such as malaria, measles, diarrhoea and malnutrition. In Uttar Pradesh, India where Robin’s Nest Agra is situated, most people are below the poverty line and more than 50% of children are unable to get a basic education because of poverty.
Why support children overseas when there is such great need on our own doorsteps? Top ^
In many western countries, while things aren’t always what we would consider ideal, we at least have some kind of social support to access, such as government youth and low income allowances, homeless shelters, refuges, church community kitchens and networks. There are millions in India and Kenya who have no such luxury and, to seal their fate, they are also locked into a caste or occult system which further limits any hope of a better future. Who will care for them?
We believe that with blessing comes responsibility. In conjunction with trusted people on site, we’ve put up our hands, along with other like-minded people worldwide, to make a difference to the lives of these children in countries where even a few western dollars can buy a whole lot for them that they wouldn’t otherwise have (compare AU$7 for a pair of glasses in India to AU$300 for a new pair in Australia), and that can provide for them what you and I consider to be basic human rights like shelter, water, food, clothing and at least a basic education.
Who sponsors? Top ^
Individuals, school classes, churches and businesses are the main sponsors of Robin’s Nest children and homes.
They also contribute to the growth of the work in other ways such as donation of professional services, giving time to promote the work and running fundraising events.
Here are comments from a few.
“Kids have been a passion of mine since I was a child myself. Contributing to Robin’s Nest through my business, Wrapped To You, enables me to play a small role in impacting the lives of children in other countries. I believe children need to be nurtured, they are our future. Through projects like Robin’s Nest we can all make a difference in a child’s life for the future.”
Janelle Karbowiak, Wrapped To You, Australia
“My small contribution comes from the heart, to a child - it is not being absorbed in officialdom and red tape.”
Delilah van Wyk, Artist, Australia
“Why do I support Robin's Nest? I can't save the world but I can educate one African child who may become the next President or school Teacher, where they can make a difference. So many people complain, but if they did something they would feel better about the world we live in.”
Barbara McDonald, Australia

Others’ experiences
Benefits to all sponsors Top ^
• Nothing quite matches the feeling you get when you hear how your sponsorship or donation has impacted a child’s life. The financial sacrifice pales into insignificance.
• Group sponsors: family or friends can enjoy working together to research a country, then give to the project of their choice. Giving together is double the blessing and it’s always fun to share the pleasure!
• Your life is enriched as you share your own blessings with others. Hopefully you will be around when the child grows up to see the result and realise the impact of your generosity.
• Donations in Australia and Canada are tax deductible.
